"As the owner of the Colorado Avalanche I would like to announce that we have just released Greg Sherman. To take his place we have hired recently retired NHL star gohabsgo." Said Mr. Kroenke. " I am overwhelmed with excitement to be a part of the Colorado orginization. They've done some great things in the past and I know that we can do the same thing now that they did in the times of Roy and Sackic. This team does need some tweaking but I think we should be fine with guys like Paul Stastny and Craig Anderson, we can bring the cup back to Colorado. I would like to thank the Colorado Orginization and coaching staff for being so welcoming." Stated newly hired gohabsgo.

"I am happy to announce that we have just resigned 23 year old Chris Stewart to a 2 year deal, where he will make 2.75 million per season. Chris was a huge asset to the Avalanche last season, and with the current line-mate I'm currently trying to get for him and Paul, he should put up career numbers. We're really looking forward to Chris being on our roster and we're hoping he can work the magic he worked last season." Said an eager Avs-GM.

"As General Manager of the Colorado Avalanche it is my duty to announce that Adam Foote has been demoted from the position of Captain. Adam was a great leader but we want a younger player that represents the youth and talent on this team to dawn the "C". Joe Sacco and I will have named a captain by the end of free agency. We will have 3 assistant captains, some of the guaranteed assistant captains will be Matt Duchene, and JM Liles. We know we will make the right desicion when we name a captain." Stated Colorado GM Avs-GM.

"As general manager of the Colorado Avalanche I am pleased to announce that we have made 3 huge moves today. Our 1st move was acquring beast Dustin Byfuglien from Atlanta in return for Milan Hejduk. Dustin will play on our 2nd line beside TJ and Matt and will be one of our 3 assistant captains. Dustin will add toughness, energy, leadership, youth, and scoring ability. We're really looking forward to having him. Our 2nd move was signing the biggest UFA on the market, Ilya Kovalchuk to a 6 year, 51 million dollar contract with a NTC. Ilya will be our team captain, play on both powerlay units, play on our 1st line, and be our 2nd shooter in the shootout. Ilya will be a key part to our success. With the line-mates he'll be with he will be able to get career high numbers. We are over-joyed he chose us and we will make the best of it. Our 3rd move was signing cup winning goaltender Annti Niemi. Antti was signed to a 2 year deal where he will make 1 million per season. He will be a great asset on our team and we're excited to add him. " Stated a very eager and restless Avs-GM.We caught up with Dustin Byfuglien as he was leaving his plane at a colorado airport, " I'm excited to come to such a young, energetic team. Colorado has a great group of guys and I feel like I can really help this team now and for years to come. Avs-GM seems very confident in me and that's always a bonus. I'm really looking forward to starting fresh here and maybe emerging into a fan favorite."Ilya Kovalchuk had just gotten off the ice and was still sporting his Avalanche jersey when the media surrounded him like 10 dogs around a cat. "Colorado has great fans, not a lot of pressure, are capable of succeeding and have a youthful, fast, strong team. I've talked to Chris and Paul and they seem very excited to have me here. I think Joe Sacco is a top of the line coach and is capable of working us hard enough so that we'll be ready for the playoffs. Also by acquiring Dustin(Byfuglien) and signing Annti Niemi he has proven he wants to add experience to lead is through the playoffs, and I feel like I have a great chance to prove my self and win a cup here."When Antti Niemi finished his photo-shoot and discussing the coming season with new team-mate Craig Anderson the media swarmed him. "Well, I was a little dissapointed when Chicago let me go, but right off the bat Colorado started showing that they wanted me on their team and it really boosted my confidence. Now I'm back and ready to win a 2nd cup in a row. I can't wait for the season to start."

"We have named a team captain. He's experienced, a fan favorite, speedy, and able to put up numbers. This man is....Ilya Kovalchuk. We're very excited to see this franchise player dawn the "C" on his jersey. He has experience, grit, is very fast, great leadership abilities, and will represent our team well. Ilya deserves this hounour and will lead us for years to come. Our assistants will be Paul Stastny, Dustin Byfuglien, and JM Liles.""This a huge role to play in a team and I'm very excited that the Colorado Orginization chose me to take on this role on their team. I feel that with my grit, experience, and leadership abilities I can lead this team well and we can go far in the playoffs. I would like to thank Joe Sacco and Avs-GM for this hounour and I hope that I can compare to Joe Sackic here in Colorado. Thank you." Said the 27 year old sniper who was all smiles.

"We have just improved our defence by acquiring 28 year old Brett Lebda and 24 year old Ladislav Smid in return for aging Adam Foote. Brett should bring a lot of speed and an offensive touch. Ladislav is young and brings a lot of size and is very responsible in his own zone, but he's still able to score 10 or 20 points a season. These two will be great assets on our team this season, and we're really eager to have them." Said a very confident Avs-GM.Brett Lebda and Ladislav Smid were both seen exiting the ACC so the media got their opinions. Brett came first, "Colorado wants to win, I want to win, I feel like with their aquisitions this season they have a great chance of doing that. Their team is very fast and they have a phenominal goaltender, it makes it a lot easier knowing that the team you're going to can win." Ladislav was next, "Colorado seems like a great place to play, they have Kovalchuk, Duchene, Byfuglien, Anderson, they're ready to win, and I'm very excited about joining their roster and working with Joe Sacco."

"Im proud to announce that we have just gone through with 2 trades in a matter of minutes. Our first trade brough Sergei Kostityn and a 3rd here from Boston in return for Kevin Porter. And our 2nd trade brough Steve Mason here from Columbus in return for Annti Niemi and a 5th. We'll start out with our thoughts on the Boston trade. Kevin was a great player and we will miss him, but Sergei has a ton of potential, and he's shown glimpses of offensive talent. We feel like now that he's in a much less pressured area he'll have his chance to shine and we're really looking forward to having him on our team. Letting go of Antti was tough as well, he just came off of a great playoffs, and we had just signed him, but we Steve is younger, and honestly we have more confidence in him. He never really had a chance to develop in Columbus, but we Craig here showing him the ropes we think he'll be just fine and will emerge into the cities saviour." Stated a very confident Avs-GM.Sergei was lacing up the skates, about to run a few drills with Smid, Duchene, and Chris Stewart when the media found him. "I'm very happy about coming to Colorado. I will miss my brother in Montreal, but Colorado has less pressure and a great young team. Duchene and Kovy have been the most welcoming, now hopefully I can make a name for my self in Colorado." said a very up-tempo Sergei Kostitsyn.Steve was actually at a local sports shop in Colorado getting his new equipment when TSN found him. "I'm really looking forward to playing in Colorado. They have a really mature, young, energetic team. Craig and I have talked on the phone, and he told me how fun this season will be and how he's looking forward to mentoring me. This team is ready to contend and win the cup, I'll do the best I can to help them do just that." Said Steve Mason with a smile on his face.

"I'm very excited to anounce that we have acquired NB born center Patrice Cormier in exchange for Brandon Yip. Patrice is a great leader, phenominal playmaker, and has size and grit. He is gauranteed a spot on our 3rd line, and will get shots in our top 6 in case of injury or lack of production. Patrice got a lot of bad publicity after some serious hits, but with mature linemates like Steve and TJ he should really mature. Patrice will lead our team for years to come." Quoted a very eager Avs-GM."Colorado has a great team, they're quick, strong, mature, and gritty. They have two very solid goaltenders, and some great D. This is an orginization that I want to spend my career with. I'm really looking forward to being a linemate with Steve Begin. Joe Sacco is a great coach and he seems like the guy that can coach us to the cup and I'd like to thank Avs-gm for trading for me." Said Patrice Cormier.

Steve has an tremendous amount of talent, and will evolve into one the leagues elite goaltenders. He has showed that he is cool under pressure, level headed, and has awesome abilities. We have complete confidence and faith in Steve, we believe that he is the 2nd coming of Patrick Roy in this city. And who better to mentour him then Craig Anderson?" Stated a very confident Avs-GM."When I stepped into the locker room for the 1st pre-season game of the season I knew that this was were I wanted to play. The fans gave me a huge welcome and I saw tons of fans sporting jersey's with Mason and #1 on them. My team-mates are great, the coaching staff know's the game very well. " As general manager of the Colorado Avalanche I'm very pleased to announce that we have just acquired goaltender, Carey Price from the Montreal Canadiens. Our complete trade was Carey Price and Lars Eller for Craig Anderson. We're very pleased to have completed this trade. It was hard to let Craig go but Carey has a huge amount of talent, he's very cool under pressure, calm in the net, and we have all the faith in the world in Carey. Lars plays a very gritty game, he's a tremendous playmaker as well, but we need players with a nose for the net and that's what Lars brings. Just like Tkachuk he's always placed right in front of the goaltender. We're very excited to have added these two players to our roster." A very eager Avs-gm told an array of reporters. We were able to catch Carey and Lars walking into the pepsi center together, first up came Carey, "Colorado has always been a place for former Montreal goalies to run off to it seems, and I'm very glad this is where I ended up. Steve and I play a very similar style of goaltending, and with both of us being young we're always open to idea's on how to get better and we'll be able to really help each other with that. I know a few of the guys here in Colorado now, Sergei, Lars, and Steve so that will ake it even easier to come here. I wish Craig the best of luck in Montreal, and I'm very pleased to be here." Now Lars, "I'm very excited to be in Colorado. Great orginization, great fans, great team-mates. They all are very young but very mature. Carey and Steve should be the dynamic duo of the NHL for goalies, and we have very solid team here, from Kovalchuk to Carey all of the players are tremendous and I'm very lucky to be here."
